The glaze is, without a doubt, the most important part when making cookies. It’s like the gift tie.
There are dozens of glazed’ recipe versions, but I share the one that has given me the best results. This recipe can be prepared a day before and kept in the refrigerator.
As a fundamental part of completing this and each recipe you try, I recommend using good-quality products to guarantee the best results.
Many use the sleeves and nozzles to decorate the cookies. I prefer to use bamboo skewers as brushes since this allows you greater control of the design, besides saving you much more glaze.
Keep going even if you do not achieve the desired result on the first attempt. Unless you have experience as a designer or professional artist, as in all things in life, you must practice until it is perfect.
Good luck on the first try!
Ingredients
Directions
In a deep bowl, sift the icing sugar to avoid future lumps. Make a hole in the middle of the sugar and gradually add the milk and corn syrup, mixing with a silicone spatula. Add the vanilla and lemon drops and mix with the spatula until you get a mixture without lumps, fluid, but not liquid.
Separate the mixture into several small containers, as many colors as you will use, and leave apart a more considerable amount of white glaze that you can keep in the fridge, which will serve to replenish the colors, if necessary.
To cover whole cookies, use a teaspoon of dessert and evenly distribute the glaze. Allow to dry for approximately one hour before placing the designs you have decided.
When finalizing your designs, let the cookie dry completely before packing it, if it is the case. Good luck on your first test and enjoy your creativity!
Important Tips
Preferably use gel food colors. I usually use the Wilton brand because they have a wide variety of colors and are faithful to what they offer in the packaging, so you will not have last-minute surprises. Consult with the sellers of your favorite store for using other brands, and always keep in mind that for this recipe, you must use gel dyes as liquid products could modify the glaze.
Use a bamboo skewer as a paint brush , since they allow you to have greater control of the design and save glaze.
