This internationally known dessert seems to be the product of a culinary error. It is said that a careless cook forgot to add yeast to his chocolate cake. This wonderful mistake was the responsible for the creation of that we know today as Brownie.
Yes, is true. The brownie was born as a result of a big mistake. However, today the Brownie is a well known dessert that you can find in almost all the world. İt is usually served hot, accompanied by a scoop of ice cream (Brownie a la Mode) or with whipped cream.
A relatively new brownie’s version is the Blondie, that is same recipe but with dark instead of white chocolate.
There are also other interesting variations of brownies. Vegan Brownie, for example, prepared without any kind of animal products, is just one of the dozens new versions for this delicious dessert.

- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Distribute a teaspoon of butter in a 7×7 inch pan and cover it with parchment paper.
In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat some water. Place the chocolate and butter in a bowl and put them on top of the pot, without letting the bowl touch the hot water. Stir constantly with a silicone spatula until the chocolate is completely melted. Put aside.
In a second bowl, place the white and brown sugar and add the eggs one by one, mixing well with a whisk. Add the vanilla and salt and mix well. Finally add the flour and cocoa powder and mix until you form a fluid cream without lumps.
- Add the chocolate mixture and mix well.
Brownie Batter : Place the mixture in your mold, previously greased and covered with baking paper. Decorate with walnuts to your liking and bake for 30 minutes.
Let your brownie rest for a few minutes before cutting it. Enjoy it!
